Decrease in electricity bills for the month of April announced

ISLAMABD: Federal Energy Minister Awais Leghari has announced that the electricity prices for April’s power bills have become cheaper compared to the last month.

“The per unit price of electricity fell by Rs3.83 in the month of April. The overall reduction is due to the quarterly and fuel price adjustments in dollar terms,” said the minister in a statement on Thursday.

He announced that the fuel price adjustment for April has decreased to Rs4.92 from Rs7.6, while the quarterly adjustment has dropped to Rs2.75 from Rs4.43.

He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed to ensure maximum relief for the nation. The minister elaborated that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) will establish a “reference tariff” for a 12-month period at the start of each year and determine fuel price adjustments on a monthly basis.
