Dengue cases on rise in Punjab: 104 new infections in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: The dengue outbreak in Punjab continues to escalate, with 124 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, as disclosed by the Secretary of Health in an official statement.
According to the latest update from the health department on Wednesday, there have been 2,925 confirmed cases reported in 36 districts of Punjab this year. Among these districts, Lahore is the worst-hit with 1,189 cases, followed by Rawalpindi with 700 cases, Multan with 347 cases, and Gujranwala with 118 cases.
In last 24 hours. Lahore reported 41 new cases of dengue, while Rawalpindi saw 33 new cases. Multan reported 16 new cases, Gujranwala had 4, Muzaffargarh had 2, and Sheikhupura, Narowal, Gujrat, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mandi Bahauddin, Chiniot, Hafizabad, and Layyah each reported 1 new case.
Currently, there are 120 dengue patients undergoing treatment in various hospitals across Punjab, with 52 of them receiving care in Lahore district hospitals.
There have been no dengue-related fatalities reported in the province this year, as stated by Ali Jaan Khan, Secretary Health Punjab. He has called on citizens to maintain clean and dry surroundings and to cooperate with health department teams as preventive measures against dengue fever.
