South Africa batted first and lost early wickets, putting the innings under pressure. Dewald Brevis took control, hitting boundaries (6s) expertly. Alongside Tristan Stubbs, he steadied the innings, helping South Africa reach a total over 210.

The Stubbs-Brevis partnership balanced careful play and aggression to take advantage of the pitch condition.

The 22—year-old found gaps and cleared the field against both, fast and spin bowling. Stubbs provided valuable support as it allowed Brevis to fast most balls.

Australian batting falters

Australia’s response began with hope but quickly slowed due to pressure from South African bowlers. Tim David was the only batter to score a half-century, reaching 50 without much help from others.

The rest of the Aussie batting lineup struggled to keep the scoring rate up or build partnerships.

South Africa’s bowlers, including Corbin Bosch and Kwena Maphaka took three wickets each. Bosch bowled accurately with changing speeds, while Maphaka took important wickets despite being a bit lavish with runs.

South Africa’s fielding also made a difference. Despite some missed chances, good ground coverage and accurate throwing saved runs. Important catches, including by Dewald Brevia, helped keep Australia under pressure.

Wickets fell steadily for Australia as they failed to adjust to the South African bowling. Many batters mistimed shots or were caught by variations in pace and line. The lower order could not add enough runs, and Australia was all out for 165 in 17.4 overs..
