WEB DESK: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry held a special interactive session with faculty members and students at Islamia University Bahawalpur, where national security, regional developments and the role of the armed forces were discussed.

During the session, the DG ISPR paid tribute to the people of Bahawalpur for their contributions to the Pakistan Movement and for their continued role in strengthening national stability. He spoke in detail about the prevailing national and regional situation, Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, and the role of the Pakistan Army in safeguarding national security.

Participants were briefed on what officials described as hostile networks, including alleged links between “Fitna-e-Hindustan” and extremist elements, and the use of social media as a tool for propaganda. The discussion focused on how misinformation and disinformation campaigns are used to influence public opinion, particularly among young people.

Vice Chancellor of Islamia University Bahawalpur appreciated the initiative, highlighting the importance of raising awareness about the concept and objectives of national security within academic institutions.

Speakers and participants emphasised the importance of media literacy, terming it essential for protecting the awareness and independent thinking of youth. Media literacy, they noted, was an effective means of countering negative propaganda and hostile narratives.

The session concluded with participants paying tribute to the armed forces for standing with the nation during challenging times and reaffirming their support for national unity and stability.
