DG ISPR visits GIKI, discusses border security and social media’s role

WEB DESK: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif visited the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Swabi, where he interacted with students and faculty members, the military’s media wing said in a statement on Thursday.

According to ISPR, discussions during the session focused on the recent Pakistan-Afghanistan border clash, the overall security situation, and the impact of social media on public perception. Lt Gen Sharif emphasised that Pakistan has taken effective measures against the presence of foreign elements in Afghanistan and reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army would continue to stand as a “steel wall” against any act of aggression.

He said the youth are the guarantors of the nation’s bright future and highlighted their key role in the country’s progress and prosperity.

Students and faculty members paid tribute to the martyrs and veterans of the armed forces, acknowledging their sacrifices for the nation. They expressed pride in the army’s decisive response to enemy provocations and stressed the importance of holding purposeful discussions to counter misinformation and propaganda.

The ISPR added that students appreciated the DG ISPR’s detailed answers to their questions, which helped clear misconceptions and fostered a deeper understanding of national security matters.
