Dig Ayub Khan’s grave and hang him for abrogating constitution: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Tuesday that all past military dictators who abrogated the Constitution should be held accountable under Article 6, which revolves around high treason.

He specifically demanded that former military ruler Field Martial Ayub Khan’s grave be dug and his body hanged for trampling and abrogating the Constitution.

The defence minister’s hard-hitting speech in the National Assembly comes in response to the speech of the Opposition Leader in the Nationl Assembly Omar Ayub, who had criticised security forces for their alleged involvement in politics and harassing political leaders and workers.

Asif mentioned that his party had also supported General Zia-ul-Haq, but they had extended an apology on the floor of the assembly.

In his criticism of the opposition, he said that when our leaders faced criticism, we chose to remain quiet, implying that the opposition should adopt a similar approach.

Before this, the opposition leader had stated in his speech that anyone who suspends the constitution commits a grave act of treachery.
