Diplomatic channels active, Pakistan bridging Iran-US communication: Iranian ambassador

Pakistan's mediation

Pakistan is actively facilitating diplomatic engagement between Iran and the United States, serving as a key intermediary in ongoing efforts to ease tensions, according to Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moqadam.

In remarks to Iranian media, the ambassador said that communication between Iran and the United States is continuing through Pakistani channels, with messages being exchanged as part of a broader diplomatic process.

Moqadam described Pakistan’s role as “important and constructive,” noting that Pakistan is helping maintain contact between the two sides at a sensitive time. He added that Islamabad has been entrusted with conveying proposals and facilitating dialogue aimed at reducing tensions.

According to the envoy, Iran has shared a comprehensive plan with Pakistan intended to address ongoing disputes and promote stability. This proposal has already been communicated to the US side through diplomatic channels.

The ambassador accentuated that the future of direct talks between Tehran and Washington depends largely on a shift in US policy. He reiterated that Iran’s position remains clear and consistent, with a focus on safeguarding its national interests and rights.

While no breakthrough has been announced so far, the continued exchange of messages suggests that backchannel diplomacy remains active, with Pakistan playing a central role in keeping communication lines open.
