Gibb passed away on Tuesday evening at his home in Texas due to health complications, according to statements shared by his family through US media. His son, Travis Gibb, said the actor died surrounded by loved ones, including his children.

The actor’s death was not sudden, his family said, revealing that he had been privately battling ongoing health issues. They also asked for prayers and privacy as they mourn the loss.

Donald Gibb became a cult favourite in the 1980s after starring as the intimidating yet oddly lovable fraternity member Ogre in Revenge of the Nerds. Though first introduced as a bully, the towering character eventually became one of the franchise’s most memorable fan favourites, helping cement Gibb’s place in pop culture.

Beyond Revenge of the Nerds, Gibb built a steady career in Hollywood, often playing physically imposing but memorable characters. He appeared in films including BloodsportU.S. Marshals and Hancock, while television audiences recognised him from appearances in shows such as The X-FilesSeinfeld and HBO football comedy 1st & Ten.
