Donations for Palestine: Bank Al Falah issues clarification

bank alfalah

ISLAMABAD: Bank Al Falah has issued a clarification refuting social media reports that it was not accepting donations for Palestine in their bank branches.

Clarifying the latest trend on twitter “#boycott Bank Alfalah”, the bank has issued a statement on its X (twitter) account stating that the internal memo circulating on the social media is ‘misleading’.

“The misleading impression created that banks have been instructed to stop accepting donations is absolutely incorrect. In Pakistan, operational accounts of embassies are restricted from receiving donations, instead contributions should be directed to legally permissible donation accounts”.

Earlier, a picture shared by a local journalist claimed that Pakistani government has restricted all commercial banks from accepting donations for Palestinians in Gaza, and it went viral sooner than expected as the people of Pakistan hold an emotional connection with Muslim brothers living in Palestine.

Users shared an alleged circular from Bank Alfalah, that stated “With immediate effect, all BAFL Branches are advised not to accept any donation funds in favour of the account of the Embassy of State of Palestine”.

This post caused a fury amongst the net citizens who threatened to take their money out from the bank.
