Dozens of anti-Pakistan social media accounts exposed, security agencies say

X accounts against Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Security agencies have identified what they describe as a coordinated network of social media accounts allegedly operating from India and Afghanistan and engaged in sustained anti-Pakistan propaganda, officials familiar with the assessment said on Tuesday.

According to the findings, several accounts on the platform X (formerly Twitter) were found to be involved in a “systematic and provocative” campaign aimed at spreading disinformation and sowing discord inside Pakistan. Investigators say the activity included the use of fake profiles and impersonation, including accounts posing as representatives of the Afghan Taliban.

Officials claim evidence has also emerged suggesting possible state-level support behind segments of the Indian network. One cluster reportedly operated under the banner Fitna-ul-Hindustan, which, according to investigators, was involved in circulating rumors and inflammatory content targeting Pakistan’s institutions.

The Afghan-linked accounts, many of them allegedly using fabricated identities, were said to have repeatedly amplified anti-Pakistan narratives, contributing to what authorities described as a broader regional effort to “destabilize” the country.

Security officials say monitoring efforts are ongoing, and further action may be taken against accounts and networks found to be engaged in coordinated disinformation campaigns. They added that Pakistan will raise the issue through diplomatic and cyber-security channels.

The social media platforms involved have not yet publicly commented on the allegations.
