Punjab govt to set up new drug addiction treatment centre in Lahore

LAHORE: In a special meeting chaired by Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, progress on proposed enhancements for Data Darbar Hospital Lahore was thoroughly assessed.
The discussions during the meeting focused on the proposal to establish a dedicated treatment centre for drug addicts within the premises of Data Darbar Hospital in Lahore.
Additionally, there was consideration regarding the potential transfer of the hospital’s management to the Anti-Narcotics Force.
The management reported that the initial steps for allocating 50 beds for the drug addiction treatment centre within Data Darbar Hospital were already in progress.
The chief minister underscored the government’s commitment to providing optimal medical facilities at Data Darbar Hospital Lahore, highlighting the goal of enhancing healthcare services for the general public.

To streamline and improve management, plans were in place to hand over the administration of Data Darbar Hospital to the primary and secondary healthcare departments.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister Azfar Ali Nasir, Chairman Planning and Development, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretary Auqaf, Secretary Health, Special Secretary Health, Commissioner Lahore, and other key officials, signifying a comprehensive and collaborative approach to addressing healthcare challenges in the region.
