Dry, cold weather to persist across country

WEB DESK: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast dry and cold weather conditions for most parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

According to the Met Office, Islamabad and surrounding areas are likely to experience clear skies with cold and dry conditions, while most districts of Balochistan are also expected to remain dry and chilly. Murree, Galiyat, and adjoining hilly regions will see similar dry weather patterns.

In Punjab, however, smog is likely to persist in several cities, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur, where air quality is expected to remain poor due to stagnant weather conditions.

The forecast further indicates that southern and southeastern coastal areas of Sindh, including Karachi and Thatta, may experience partly cloudy skies. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir are expected to remain cold and dry, with temperatures dropping further during nighttime.

The PMD has advised citizens to take precautions against cold weather and smog, particularly in urban areas affected by poor air quality.
