DSP among seven martyred in attack on police van in Kohat

KOHAT: At least seven people were killed in a deadly attack on a police mobile in the Shakardara Road area of Kohat, police officials confirmed on Monday.

Among the dead are five police personnel, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Lachi Asad Mahmood. Four other police officers sustained injuries in the assault and are currently receiving treatment.

According to police sources, unidentified assailants targeted the police van, triggering a heavy exchange of fire. One suspected attacker was killed during the incident, while another was injured. A passerby also lost his life after being caught in the violence.

A heavy contingent of Kohat Police rushed to the scene following the attack and cordoned off the area. Security has been heightened across the district as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault.

The bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to Lachi Hospital in Kohat.

Further investigation is underway.
