Dune: Part Three has dropped its first official images, offering a first glimpse at a darker new chapter for Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides while teasing Robert Pattinson’s long-awaited debut in the franchise.
The images, released via the film’s official social media accounts, show a visibly changed Paul, with red scarring and deeper lines around his eyes, hinting at a darker, battle-worn version of the character following the events of the earlier films.
Pattinson is also seen for the first time as Scytale, the film’s new antagonist, joining a returning ensemble that includes Zendaya as Chani, Jason Momoa as Hayt, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica and Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Isaach De Bankolé are also among the cast featured in the newly released images.
The first look arrives ahead of the film’s trailer, expected to drop this week, with reports pointing to an imminent release, possibly alongside Project Hail Mary.
Director Denis Villeneuve returns for the third instalment, which is set for release on December 18, 2026. The filmmaker has previously said the project will be his final entry in the Dune series, describing it as a distinct follow-up rather than a traditional trilogy.
“It’s not like a trilogy,” Villeneuve said in an earlier interview. “If I go back, it’s to do something that feels different and has its own identity.”
Momoa’s return marks a notable shift after his absence in the second film, while Pattinson joins the franchise as one of its most anticipated new additions.
The first two Dune films have collectively earned around $1.1 billion at the global box office, cementing the franchise as one of Hollywood’s biggest recent sci-fi successes.
With a darker Paul, a new villain and a fresh visual direction teased, Dune: Part Three appears set to take the story in a darker, more unpredictable direction as anticipation builds ahead of its trailer release.
