A Dutch seismologist has sparked alarm with a prediction of possible seismic activity in the coming days, warning of a potential “major disaster” that could coincide with an unusual alignment of planets.
Frank Hoogebets, known for his controversial forecasts, issued a statement urging the public to remain vigilant between February 13 and 15, citing what he calls “planetary geometry.” According to Hoogebets, the Earth, Moon, and Jupiter will align during this period, a phenomenon he believes could increase seismic activity on the planet.
“I advise you to be very careful from February 13 to 15,” Hoogebets said. “A major earthquake may occur during this time, and a surprising event could take place.”
Hoogebets has previously made similar warnings based on his planetary analysis, a method that has drawn both attention and criticism. He accentuates the alignment of celestial bodies as a key factor in his predictions, though the exact mechanism linking planetary positions to earthquakes remains unproven.
However, the scientific community has strongly rejected Hoogebets’ claims. Experts in seismology stress that there is no established evidence linking planetary rotations or alignments to earthquakes on Earth. “While certain regions are more prone to seismic events, accurate short-term predictions are currently impossible,” one expert said.
Despite skepticism from the broader scientific community, Hoogebets’ warning has reignited public discussion about earthquake preparedness and the limits of scientific prediction. Authorities have not issued any new alerts or warnings in response to the forecast.
The coming days will reveal whether this latest prediction is merely another controversial claim or a timely reminder for increased vigilance in earthquake-prone regions.
