Dylan Harper turns heads after huge Spurs display in playoff thriller

Dylan Harper is giving San Antonio Spurs fans another reason to dream after the rookie guard delivered a standout performance in the team’s thrilling Western Conference Finals opener.

The 20-year-old played a major role in San Antonio’s 122-115 double-overtime victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1, stepping up as the Spurs navigated the absence of injured guard De’Aaron Fox.

Harper finished with 24 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, while adding seven steals in a commanding all-round performance that further fuelled excitement around San Antonio’s future.

Already regarded as one of basketball’s brightest young prospects after being selected second overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, Harper is now beginning to turn heads beyond Spurs circles.

In his first playoff campaign, the rookie has looked remarkably composed under pressure, displaying the kind of poise rarely seen from a player so early in his NBA career.

That maturity has become especially valuable for San Antonio, where Harper has spent much of his rookie season adapting to different roles while sharing the floor with stars including Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle.

Against Oklahoma City, that flexibility mattered.

With Fox sidelined by an ankle injury, Harper took on greater responsibility and delivered key moments on both ends of the court as the Spurs battled through a tense contest that stretched into double overtime.

His seven steals also set a new Spurs playoff record, underlining his growing importance during San Antonio’s postseason run.

The performance has only added to growing excitement around the Spurs’ long-term future.

Wembanyama remains the franchise’s headline attraction, but Harper’s recent form is strengthening belief that San Antonio may already have another cornerstone in place.

At just 20, Harper looks increasingly comfortable on the NBA’s biggest stage and, if his playoff rise continues, he may not stay under the radar for much longer.
