RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi’s Education Department is poised to unveil an electronic pension system on January 1, 2024, providing retired educators, academic officers, and non-teaching staff with a convenient online platform for submitting their pension cases.

In an effort to streamline this process, the education department has introduced a dedicated mobile application. This app enables users to easily submit and review pension applications, as well as access relevant information. Additionally, real-time updates on pension statuses will be accessible to all applicants, Express Tribune reported on Sunday.

Leaders from teachers’ organisations, including Muhammad Shafiq Bhalwalia, Basharat Iqbal Raja, and Shahid Mubarak, have expressed confidence in the system’s ability to effectively combat corruption and bribery. They believe that this innovative system will empower teachers to file appeals conveniently from their homes.

According to sources from the Ministry of Education, the new pension app is scheduled for launch on December 30, 2023. This initiative aims to provide teachers and education officers with comprehensive information, and individuals retiring in the upcoming year will be required to submit their pension cases online.

The approval status of cases will also be reported online. Moreover, it is anticipated that all departments and facilities within the education department will be operational online within the first quarter of the New Year.
