Earthquake tremors shake Islamabad, Rawalpindi and other parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Earthquake tremors were felt in several cities of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat, and Chitral, after a magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck on Friday evening.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake occurred at 5:15pm, with its epicentre located in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region at a depth of 120 kilometres.
Residents in various cities reported feeling the tremors for several seconds. Panic spread as people rushed out of homes, offices, and buildings to open spaces, fearing aftershocks.
However, initial reports from the PMD and local authorities confirmed that no casualties or property damage had been reported so far.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, urging citizens to remain calm and follow safety precautions.
Earlier on October 1, minor earthquake tremors were felt in Karachi, creating panic amongst citizens who are still fearing a possible cyclone.
An earthquake of 3.2 magnitude with a depth of 10 kilometres was recorded in Malir.
According to the Seismological Centre, the epicentre was located 7 kilometres northwest of Malir.
