Transparency in the electoral process emerged as a significant topic of conversation during the discussions. Reflecting on the 2018 elections, Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the introduction of the Result Transmission System (RTS), while also mentioning ongoing efforts to develop a more effective system to address concerns raised during the previous election.
The delegation also underscored the need for increased participation of women in the electoral process.
Ahsan Iqbal further revealed that the PML-N had urged the ECP to finalize constituency boundaries by December 14, taking into consideration the 90-day limit for delimitation. Reassuringly, the ECP conveyed its commitment to conducting the election promptly and within the established timeframe.
Concurrently, the ECP extended an invitation to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for consultations, scheduled for August 29.
Notably, the ECP had previously engaged in discussions with delegations from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) regarding the upcoming elections.
