ECP issues schedule for Senate by-poll on seat left vacant after Sajjid Mir’s death

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the schedule for a by-election to fill the Senate seat left vacant after the passing of Senator Sajjid Mir.
The ECP on Tuesday issued a schedule to complete the process of the by-election, fulfilling the vacant senate seat.
The commission’s schedule said, candidates can submit their nomination papers on May 14 and 15.
The scrutiny of the applications will be completed by May 17.
Any objections to candidates’ eligibility can be filed up until May 20, when a special tribunal will hear and decide on them.

A final list of the candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be released on May 23, while nomination forms will be available for receiving on May 24.
The Punjab Assembly will cast its votes for the new senator on May 29, as outlined in the official schedule.
