ISLAMABAD: In a surprising turn of events, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has stirred controversy by issuing a notification declaring the success of an unfamiliar figure, Sadaf Ehsan, on the reserved seat allocated to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F). The notification, labelled No. F6 of 2024, has raised eyebrows and sparked demands for an investigation into the matter.

The seat in question, designated for the National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), has become the focal point of contention following the unexpected announcement. Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of JUI-F, swiftly responded by urging the ECP to retract the notification and initiate a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Ehsan’s alleged success.
What adds fuel to the fire is the revelation that Sadaf Ehsan is neither affiliated with the JUI-F nor listed as a member of the party. This discrepancy has led to intensified calls for transparency and accountability within the electoral process.
In light of the mounting pressure, a petition has been filed urging the ECP to revoke the notification attributed to Ehsan and instead recognise the rightful candidate, Hina Bibi, for the coveted seat.

As the controversy unfolds, all eyes remain fixed on the ECP, awaiting its response and action to address the growing demands for clarity and fairness in the electoral process.
