ECP releases breakdown of president’s election results

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially announced the conclusive outcome of the presidential election, revealing a total of 1,044 votes cast in the process.

As per the commission’s statement, former President Asif Ali Zardari secured a commanding lead with 716 votes, cementing his position as the victor in the electoral contest. His closest rival, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, trailed behind with 319 votes.

Detailed breakdowns provided by the Election Commission indicate that in the National Assembly, Zardari garnered 255 votes compared to Achakzai’s 119.

Moving to regional assemblies, in the Punjab Assembly, Zardari clinched 247 votes while Achakzai received 100. Similarly, in the Sindh Assembly, Zardari secured 151 votes against Achakzai’s 9.

In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Zardari accumulated 17 votes, leaving Achakzai with 91. In the Balochistan Assembly, Zardari claimed 47 votes, while Achakzai failed to secure any.

Additionally, the commission disclosed that nine votes were discarded due to various reasons during the counting process.

According to the prescribed formula, Zardari amassed a total of 411 votes, consolidating his victory, while Achakzai trailed with 181 votes.
