ECP summons Establishment Division secretary over delay in officials’ transfer

ECP

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned the Establishment Division secretary for failing to implement its order regarding the transfer of two key officials and an adviser to the caretaker prime minister.

The ECP said that it had asked the Establishment Division to replace the Islamabad Police Inspector General and the deputy commissioner on August 17, 2023, and October 20, 2023.

Expressing concern over the lack of action or a request for a review of its decision, the ECP has asked the Establishment Division secretary to appear before the commission on Tuesday, December 26, and explain the reasons for non-compliance with the commission’s orders.

In another communique, the ECP said that in its order on December 19, it had sought a compliance report for the removal of Ahad Cheema, advisor to the caretaker prime minister on Establishment Division.

Despite this, the ECP said, no compliance report has been received so far.

In the case, the ECP has asked the Establishment Division secretary to appear before the commission on Tuesday, December 26 and explain the reasons for non-compliance with the commission’s orders.
