Educational institutions to remain shut in Quetta

QUETTA: All educational institutions in Quetta will remain closed until November 16 due to security concerns.

According to sources, all schools and colleges in Quetta Cantonment have been shut down for security reasons.

Officials said that the decision was taken to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The development comes as internet and mobile data services remain suspended across Balochistan from November 10 to 16, although Quetta city has been partially exempted from the restriction.

The Balochistan Home Department confirmed the suspension order, issuing a security alert and stating that internet services in rural areas of the province would remain suspended.

Despite the exemption, residents of some parts of Quetta have reported disruptions in mobile and internet services.

Authorities have urged the public to follow security advisories, remain vigilant, and stay informed about the latest situation.

Meanwhile, Jaffar Express train service remained suspended in Balochistan for the fifth day.

According to Pakistan Railways, the Jaffar Express, which operates between Quetta and Peshawar, has been suspended for the fifth consecutive day. Officials confirmed that the service will remain halted until November 13 (today). However, the suspension may be extended.

Additionally, the Bolan Mail service to Karachi has also been suspended. Railway authorities said that train operations from Balochistan to other provinces have been temporarily stopped “on the basis of operational and security reasons.”
