ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police have implemented comprehensive security and traffic arrangements to ensure the safety of citizens and smooth movement during Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations. Authorities report that both the first and second days of Eid were managed with heightened vigilance and proactive policing.
TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AND CROWD FACILITATION
On the first day of Eid, Islamabad Traffic Police deployed over 500 officers at major Eid prayer sites, popular entertainment venues, and highways. Chief Traffic Officer Captain R. Hamza Humayun personally oversaw operations, ensuring that traffic flow was maintained and families could celebrate safely.
Strict actions were taken against more than 500 one-wheelers and individuals engaging in hooliganism, in line with the city’s zero-tolerance policy. Traffic squads remained active across the district on the second day of Eid as well.
Shakarparian, Lake View Park, and Daman Koh were officially designated as family parks, and entry without families was prohibited. Authorities urged youth to cooperate with police and avoid reckless riding or disruptive behavior. Emergency services were made accessible through the traffic helpline 1915 and Pukar 15.
CITYWIDE SECURITY OVERSIGHT
On the second day of Eid, Islamabad Police officers remained active across the city under the direct supervision of Inspector General of Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. Senior officials, including DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq and SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, were present in the field to monitor security arrangements and ensure public safety.
More than 3,000 police officers and personnel were deployed to conduct security and traffic duties. Checkpoints, patrol units, and special pickets were established at key entry and exit routes, entertainment venues, and sensitive locations to prevent incidents and maintain order.
Authorities emphasized that police officers were instructed to treat citizens courteously while providing assistance and maintaining safety. A full-scale crackdown on one-wheeling and hooliganism continued, reinforcing the city’s commitment to a secure and family-friendly environment.
PUBLIC RESPONSE AND OUTCOMES
The security measures received widespread appreciation from citizens, who praised the police for ensuring peaceful celebrations. According to DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, no untoward incidents were reported on the first day of Eid due to effective planning and proactive policing.
Authorities confirmed that all patrol units remained active and vigilant throughout the city, maintaining continuous oversight to safeguard citizens and facilitate smooth Eid celebrations. Police officers have been commended for their dedication and commitment during the festive period.
