Eid Milad-un-Nabi: Traffic plan for Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) has formulated an extensive traffic strategy to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the celebration of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi (PBUH) on Friday.
According to a spokesperson of CTP, there will be two primary processions, with the first one commencing at 10:00am from Jamia Masjid Hanafia on Jamia Masjid Road. This procession will follow a route through various parts of the city, including Paul Shah Nazar, Bani Chowk, Murree Road, Committee Chowk, Liaquat Road, and Fawara Chowk, and will pass through Dungi Khoi before returning to its initial starting point.
Over 455 traffic police officers and traffic wardens will be deployed on special duty to offer optimal traffic management services to the citizens. This includes enforcing a ban on parking vehicles or handcarts along the route of the Milad processions.
The procession routes will be temporarily closed to traffic with appropriate diversions in place.
For traffic heading from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, diversions will be set up starting from the Jang Building U-turn, leading towards Kachhari Chowk. Similarly, traffic moving from Liaquat Bagh to Fawara Chowk will be rerouted through DAV College towards Gawalmandi.
The second procession, commencing at 9:30 AM from Chungi No. 22, will follow the route: Tench Road, Dhok Syedan Chowk, Kalma Chowk, No. 22 Chowk, Adara Road, State Life Building Turn, MH Chowk, Mahfooz Chowk, Mansehra Adda, Cantt, Nishtar Street, Adamji Road, Mithukhan Hata, Railway Road Military Account, Kamran Market to GTS Chowk (Old Varan Adda), and will conclude after passing through.
During this procession, traffic travelling from Kalma Chowk to Chungi 22 Chowk will be redirected to Harley Street. Traffic bound for Khattak Chowk CMH and Tench will be diverted onto Harley Street, and as the procession reaches Mall Road, traffic from Peshawar Road will be redirected towards Qasim Market.
Eid Milad-un-Nabi: Govt announces Public holiday
Traffic moving from Katchery Chowk towards TM Chowk will be rerouted towards Murree Road.
The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Rawalpindi, Taimoor Khan, said that heavy traffic will not be allowed during the Milad procession.
He further explained that Murree Road, spanning from Marrir Chowk to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, will be closed off during the main procession. Traffic originating from Islamabad will be redirected to Rawal Road, while traffic heading to Islamabad from Saddar, Rawalpindi, will be rerouted towards Katchery Chowk starting from Marrir.
Additionally, he has instructed the relevant officers to clear all types of encroachments from the procession routes and maintain a vigilant watch for any suspicious activities.
Furthermore, he siad that strict disciplinary measures will be taken against any officials found violating these directives.
The government on Thursdays notified Friday, September 29 as an official public holiday across the country on account of Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
