Eight Levies injured in bomb attack on Kech DC’s convoy

Kech blast Balochistan

WEB DESK: A remote-controlled explosion targeted the convoy of Deputy Commissioner Kech, Bashir Ahmed Badich, injuring eight Levies personnel, officials confirmed.

According to police, the attack occurred as the deputy commissioner’s convoy was passing through the outskirts of Turbat. The deputy commissioner escaped unharmed, while the injured security personnel were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police said the blast damaged the bulletproof vehicle carrying the DC, which also bore bullet marks, indicating subsequent gunfire. Following the explosion, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the perpetrators.

Authorities have begun an investigation into the incident, which is believed to be a targeted attack against the district administration convoy.

Bulletproof vehicles for Balochistan

Last week, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had announced that the bulletproof vehicles originally allocated to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be sent to Balochistan, after KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi declined to accept them. The decision followed a request from Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, who urged that the vehicles be redirected to his province, citing the ongoing threat of terrorism. Naqvi had said the vehicles would be dispatched immediately to support Balochistan’s counterterrorism operations. Bugti had stated that if KP did not require the vehicles, Balochistan would use them to strengthen its security efforts against militant threats.
