Election 2024: election campaign deadline ends

ISLAMABAD: The deadline for the election campaign set by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for contenders of the general election 2024 ended at midnight on Tuesday.
ECP has announced a pre-poll silence period from February 6 to 7, during which campaigning activities such as rallies, public meetings, and media appearances are strictly prohibited.

A total of 5,121 candidates are vying for seats in the National Assembly, with 4,807 being male and 312 female candidates.
In the four provincial assemblies of Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Balochistan, a combined total of 12,695 candidates are participating in the electoral contest.
Candidates caught violating the ECP’s directives by participating in campaign activities during the pre-poll silence period will be subject to severe consequences, potentially leading to disqualification.
