Election Commission invites political leadership for GE consultations

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to engage major political parties of Pakistan for consultations regarding the upcoming general elections in the country.

As a part of the process, the ECP has sent out invitations to leaders of the political parties including Shehbaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Maulana Fazlur Rehman for meetings on separate days.

Sharif has been invited on August 25, while PTI chairman and Maulana are scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile, Zardari has been called in for consultations on August 29, as per the letters

Earlier, President Arif Alvi had invited the Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja for a consultation on election dates.
