ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gauhar has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the recent decision of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) concerning election symbol “bat”.

The move comes as a response to PHC’s decision in which the election symbol of bat has been withdrawn from PTI. The party asserts that the decision was made without proper consideration of the evidence and questions the validity of withdrawing the election symbol of the bat.

PTI loses “bat” symbol; PHC announces verdict

According to sources, Barrister Gauhar’s petition argues that the PHC’s ruling lacks a solid foundation in facts and also raises concerns about the admissibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) application in the matter.

The ECP’s plea, as per the PTI’s stance, was not admissible to the PHC, on which the verdict has been issued. PTI insists that crucial evidence was overlooked in the process of revoking the election symbol associated with the bat, and the decision was made “unlawfully”. Barrister Gauhar, in the filed petition, asserts that the entire process was flawed, rendering the decision illegal.
