Electricity relief for protected customers to end on September 30

ISLAMABAD: The relief on electricity bills for protected consumers will end on October 1st. Starting October 1, the basic tariff per unit will increase to Rs7.12. The federal government’s three-month relief will conclude on September 30.
According to sources, the basic tariff per unit for consumers using up to 200 units will rise to Rs7.12 starting October 1. For non-protected customers using up to 100 units, the tariff will increase from Rs7.11 to Rs23.59 per unit.
Similarly, for non-protected consumers using 101 to 200 units, the tariff will be set at Rs30.07 per unit. For protected customers using 1 to 100 units, the tariff will increase by Rs3.95 to Rs11.69 per unit, while for protected customers using 101 to 200 units, the tariff will rise by Rs4.10 to Rs14.16 per unit.
For lifeline consumers using up to 50 units per month, the tariff will remain at Rs3.95 per unit. For lifeline consumers using between 51 and 100 units, the tariff will be maintained at Rs7.74 per unit.
In July, the federal government had increased the basic electricity tariff to Rs7.12 per unit and had exempted consumers using up to 200 units from the increase for three months.
The federal government had suspended the increase in electricity prices for consumers using up to 200 units for three months with a subsidy of Rs50 billion.
