Security forces killed 11 militants during separate operations in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, security sources said on Saturday.
According to security sources, operations were carried out in the districts of Panjgur and Chagai as part of what the sources described as Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3.
Five militants were killed during an operation in the Gwargo area of Panjgur, where security forces also recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition from the militants, the sources said.
In separate operations in the Aminabad and Siahn Ching areas of Chagai, security forces killed six more militants and recovered weapons and ammunition, according to the sources.
Security operations against militants were continuing, the sources said, adding that authorities would maintain operations until the threat was eliminated.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces following the reported deaths of the 11 militants.
Naqvi said the forces had thwarted militants’ plans and described their actions as reflecting the country’s commitment to protecting national security. He also said the Pakistani nation stood alongside security forces in the fight against militancy.
The minister said operations against groups referred to by authorities as Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij would continue with full force.
