LONDON: England defeated New Zealand by 115 runs after delivering a dominant all-round performance at the Lord’s Test, wrapping up a strong win in a low-scoring contest.
Set a target of 254 runs in the fourth innings, New Zealand collapsed for just 138, falling well short as England’s bowlers applied relentless pressure.
The star of the match was Ollie Robinson, who produced a brilliant spell across both innings, finishing with seven wickets in the match and breaking the backbone of the the touring team’s batting line-up.
Earlier, England had posted 140 runs in their first innings, before improving significantly in the second innings with 226 runs, setting a challenging target for the visitors.
New Zealand struggled throughout the match, managing 113 runs in their first innings and failing again in the second innings despite brief resistance.
For England, Harry Brook top-scored with 56 in the first innings, while Ben Duckett added 19. In the second innings, contributions from Zak Crawley (57) and Joe Root provided stability to the innings.
New Zealand’s bowling effort was led by Kyle Jamieson, who picked up 5 wickets for 62 runs, while Nathan Smith also chipped in with key breakthroughs.
Despite their efforts, New Zealand could not withstand England’s pace attack, eventually succumbing to a comprehensive defeat at the iconic Lord’s venue.
