WEB DESK: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan. The matches, part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC), are set to take place from October 7 to 28.
This squad features two uncapped players: Brydon Carse from Durham and Jordan Cox from Essex. Additionally, spinners Rehan Ahmed and Jack Leach make a return to the Test team. England’s regular Test captain, Ben Stokes, who missed the recent series against Sri Lanka due to an injury sustained in The Hundred, is back. However, his participation will depend on his fitness.
Right-handed opener Zak Crawley, who is recovering from a thumb injury sustained while attempting a catch in the final Test of the series against the West Indies, is also included in the squad. Despite his injury, Crawley’s inclusion signifies his importance to the team.
England enters this series with strong momentum, having recently secured series victories over the West Indies and Sri Lanka. In contrast, Pakistan faced setbacks, losing their two-match home series against Bangladesh 2-0. During their last tour to Pakistan in 2022, England dominated the series, achieving a 3-0 whitewash.
