Evacuation starts: 18 Afghan families arrive at Torkham border

ISLAMABAD: The evacuation of Afghan residents without legal documentation has commenced, as the deadline given by Pakistani government for eviction of illegal refugees draws closer.
Pakistan has given November 1, 2023, as a deadline for all illegal immigrants, including Afghans to leave the country or face forceful deportation.
According to Afghan Commissionerate sources, a total of nine trucks, transporting 18 Afghan families, have arrived at the Torkham crossing.

Notably, the returning Afghan contingent predominantly comprises women and children, amounting to a total of 180 individuals, as reported by the Afghan Commissionerate.
It has been clarified by commissionerate sources that Afghan nationals will only be permitted to enter Afghanistan following due legal processes and actions.
Furthermore, the Afghan Commissionerate has expressed its intent to expedite the repatriation of Afghan families in the coming days.
