Everyone has to play role in showdown with Pakistan: Jonathan Trott

CHENNAI: Afghan cricket team head coach Jonathan Trott has said that everyone has to play their role in defeating a strong team like Pakistan.

Speaking at a press conference in Chennai, Trott stated that it’s not just the spinners who will be on the field; but all players have a role to play in winning the match against Pakistan.

Referring to the recent series against Pakistan, Trott expressed optimism about the team’s potential to win match.

He said, “We had the chance to win matches in the series against Pakistan, and we will strive to win in the upcoming match.”

Trott highlighted the significance of every match in the World Cup, acknowledging Pakistan’s strong spinners and the challenging competition they present.

Afghan players are enthusiastic about the upcoming match against Pakistan, and they are undeterred by the results of previous matches, he said.

Trott expressed confidence that Pakistan will also make every effort to win the upcoming match, and Afghanistan is determined to do the same.

Pakistan has played 4 matches in the World Cup and won 2, while Afghanistan has played 4 matches and achieved success in only one.

Trott was optimistic that his side could stay alive in the World Cup 2023 with a crucial victory over a struggling Pakistan.
