WEB DESK: The exiled son of Iran’s last monarch, Reza Pahlavi, has outlined a sweeping vision for a democratic, secular Iran, pledging that a future free Iran would immediately recognise Israel and normalise relations with the United States. In a message addressed to the international community on Thursday, Pahlavi called for global support for the Iranian people and detailed his plans for governance, security, diplomacy, energy, and economic reform.
“The real Iran is a beautiful, peace-loving, and flourishing nation,” Pahlavi said, contrasting the country’s potential with the reality under the Islamic Republic, which he said has become synonymous with terrorism, extremism, and poverty. “It is the Iran that existed before the Islamic Republic, and it is the Iran that will rise again from its ashes the day the regime falls.”
Pahlavi outlined a strict security and foreign policy agenda for a post-regime Iran. He said the country’s nuclear military program would end, and support for terrorist groups would cease immediately. A free Iran, he said, would cooperate with regional and global partners to combat terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking, and extremist Islamism. “Iran will act as a friend and stabilising force in the region and as a responsible partner in global security,” he added.
On diplomacy, Pahlavi highlighted the immediate recognition of Israel and the restoration of friendly relations with the United States. He proposed expanding the Abraham Accords into what he called the “Cyrus Accords,” creating a framework for cooperation between a free Iran, Israel, and Arab nations. “A new chapter will begin, grounded in mutual recognition, sovereignty, and national interest,” he said.
Energy and economic policy were also central to Pahlavi’s vision. Citing Iran’s vast oil and gas reserves, he pledged that a democratic Iran would become a reliable energy supplier to the world, with transparent and responsible policy-making ensuring stable and predictable prices. The country’s economy, he said, would be opened to trade, investment, and innovation, leveraging a highly educated population and a global diaspora.
Pahlavi also emphasised transparency, good governance, and anti-corruption measures. “Money laundering will be confronted. Organised corruption will be dismantled. Public institutions will answer to the people,” he said, calling for adherence to international standards and accountability.
“This is not an abstract vision. It is a practical one, grounded in national interest, stability, and cooperation,” Pahlavi said. “A free Iran will be a force for peace, prosperity, and partnership. It will replace isolation with opportunity, and conflict with cooperation.”
Pahlavi urged the international community to stand with the Iranian people, framing the fall of the Islamic Republic and the establishment of a secular, democratic government as essential not only for Iran’s dignity but also for regional and global stability.
