Explosion in Faisalabad chemical factory kills 15, several more injured

WEB DESK: A gas leak explosion at a chemical factory in Shahab Town, Kabaddi Stadium area of Faisalabad, has claimed 15 lives and injured seven others. According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Farooq Ahmed, the emergency call was received at 5:28 am, prompting the immediate deployment of specialized search and rescue teams led by District Officer Engineer Ihtisham.
Over 145 rescuers with 31 emergency vehicles participated in the operation, which successfully evacuated several people from the collapsed factory. Some victims later succumbed to severe injuries. The blast is believed to have originated from the Samad Bond chemical factory, one of four factories located at the site; the other three, producing glue, silicone, and embroidery work, were closed at the time.
Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani expressed deep sorrow over the tragic boiler explosion at a chemical factory in Faisalabad. He offered prayers for the departed souls and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, describing the incident as profoundly heartbreaking and emphasizing that the entire nation stands with the grieving families. Gilani also wished a speedy recovery for the injured and directed relevant authorities to ensure they receive full medical care. He stressed the importance of investigating the causes of the tragedy and taking measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Nine nearby homes were also affected in the explosion. Among the casualties were three factory workers and the rest residents. All injured individuals and recovered bodies have been transported to local hospitals for treatment. Initial investigations indicate that a gas leakage likely triggered the explosion. Rescue operations continue under the supervision of Rescue 1122 teams to ensure all affected individuals are accounted for.
