Explosive device successfully defused near Adiala Jail

RAWALPINDI: In a prompt and courageous response, the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) officials successfully defused an explosive device in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

The incident unfolded when a vigilant passersby on Adiala Road discovered a suspicious bag, prompting him to alert local authorities.

Rawalpindi police swiftly contacted the Bomb Disposal Squad to assess the situation.

Upon their arrival, BDS personnel conducted a thorough inspection and identified the presence of explosives within the stranded device, before safely defusing the device.

The bomb disposal squad reported that the device contained approximately 1200 grams of explosives, all of which were neutralised during the operation.

Notably, the device had been strategically placed at a distance of 100 meters from Gate No. 5 of Adiala Jail, situated adjacent to Dhaka Sweets Gorakhpur, and housing high profile prisoners including Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

This timely response and efficient defusal operation by the Bomb Disposal Squad averted a potential disaster, ensuring the safety of the local community.
