GUJRANWALA: An alleged gang of extortionists opened fire at a property dealer’s house in Gujranwala on Tuesday, injuring his wife and a security guard, police said.

According to the police, the extortionists had demanded Rs10 million from Shahzad Mehr, a property dealer, and threatened him with dire consequences if he did not pay up.

Mehr refused to give in to their demands and reported the matter to the Saddar police station.

However, the gangsters did not back off and attacked his house with firearms and sticks.

They also damaged his car and other valuables.

The CCTV footage of the incident showed 15 assailants arriving in three vehicles and motorcycles and storming the house.

Mehr’s wife and guard sustained bullet injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The police said they have registered a case against the unidentified accused and launched a hunt for them with the help of the CCTV footage.

A police spokesman said the extortionists’ gang will be busted soon and brought to justice.
