Fact or fake? Aina Asif’s viral video sparks online debate

ISLAMABAD: The internet and social media are buzzing about a video that went viral showing teenage star Aina Asif smoking.

The video, which went viral on social media, showed the young celebrity smoking a cigarette, which shocked and even infuriated many viewers.  Although some of her fans have been quick to condemn her, However, some viewers have called it out as fake, made using artificial intelligence (AI).

While artificial intelligence has made life easier in many ways, it has also become a source of distress for many — especially in a country like Pakistan, where internet literacy is still limited, and distinguishing between real and fake videos isn’t always easy.

This lack of awareness has led to a surge in AI-generated fake videos, affecting several celebrities including Aina Asif — who began her career as a child.

Despite the growing hullabaloo around the video, it is worth noting that Aina Asif’s team has not confirmed the genuineness of the video clip.

Many social media users have pointed out the possibility that the video might be doctored because of the way AI was being used to manipulate visuals and create convincing yet fake content.

Aina Asif’s personal life, she was born in 2008 and is currently a matriculation student.

Career 

Aina Asif started her career as a child model and appeared in various television commercials for well-known brands. 

She made her acting debut in 2021 with the drama serial “Pehli Si Muhabbat”, playing the role of “Hamna”. 

In 2022, she appeared as Maliha in “Hum Tum” and as “Abeer in Pinjra”. 

In 2023, she gained further fame for her lead role as Qurat-ul-Ain “Annie” Habib drama “Mayi Ri”.
