Faizabad commission to submit final report to federal govt next week

ISLAMABAD: The commission investigating the Faizabad sit-in is set to present its final report to the federal government next week.


The commission has meticulously reviewed over 5200 pages of evidence concerning the Faizabad sit-in. Despite the efforts of the chief executive and provincial governments at the time, they were unable to effectively manage the sit-in.

Reports from various agencies including the IB, police, PEMRA, PTI, FIA, CTD, government, and special branches have been incorporated into the commission’s report.

The commission has also recorded statements from 28 key individuals involved. Statements from both retired and serving military and civilian officers have been included in the report.

According to sources, the positions of retired and serving civilian officers are also part of the commission’s report. In light of all the reports and statements, the commission has also determined the responsibility of those who failed to handle the Faizabad sit-in. The Ministry of Interior will present the commission’s report to the Supreme Court.
