Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman has been suspended for two matches for violating the code of conduct during the ongoing Pakistan Super League, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The decision was taken by match referee Roshan Mahanama after a disciplinary hearing in which evidence was reviewed and the player’s explanation was heard. Following the proceedings, the referee ruled in favour of imposing a suspension.
According to officials, the action was taken under Article 2.14 of the PSL code of conduct, with proceedings carried out in line with clause 4.1.3 of the regulations.
The hearing, held in Lahore, was related to an alleged ball-tampering incident involving the player. Representatives from Lahore Qalandars were also present during the proceedings, including captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and team director Sameen Rana.
The suspension means Fakhar Zaman will miss the next two matches for his side, dealing a setback to the team during a crucial phase of the tournament.
No further details have been officially released regarding the incident.
