LAHORE: Chaudhry Salik Hussain, while reacting to his uncle Ch Pervez Elahi’s statement, said that the whole of Pakistan and PTI know who was interested in becoming a minister.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain responded to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Pervez Elahi’s recent statement, shedding light on the ongoing tensions within the family and political landscape.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, currently incarcerated in Adiala jail, asserted that his cousin and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain had given his approval for Elahi’s decision to join the Imran Khan-led party. Speaking to the media outside an Islamabad court, Elahi was questioned about why Shujaat himself had not taken a similar step if he supported Elahi’s move to join PTI.
“Shujaat Hussain refrained from joining PTI due to his son, Salik Hussain, who had a strong desire to become a minister,” stated Elahi.
In response to his uncle’s statement, Chaudhry Salik Hussain retorted, “The entire nation, as well as PTI members, are well aware of who harbored ambitions of becoming a minister.”
Salik Hussain also revealed that Chaudhry Shujaat had approached PTI’s leadership on three separate occasions at the insistence of Pervez Elahi to secure a ministerial position for Moonis.
“I personally had no aspirations to become a minister,” asserted Salik.

He further pointed out that his uncle, Pervez Elahi, was directing his frustration towards him instead of addressing the issue with his own son, Moonis Elahi.
On February 21, Elahi formally announced his affiliation with PTI, bringing along 10 former members of his party, after Shujaat dismissed him from his role as PML-Q’s Punjab president and revoked his basic membership.
