Farah Gogi sends Rs5b defamation notice to Ata Tarar

LAHORE: Farhat Shehzadi alias Farah Gogi, a close friend of former first lady Bushra Bibi, has sent a Rs5 billion defamation notice to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ata Tarar.

Farah Gigi through her legal counsel said that Tarar made baseless accusations regarding her assets to the media without providing any supporting evidence.

The notice emphasized that all of Farah Gogi’s assets were duly declared, and the allegations by Ata Tarar were an attempt to tarnish her reputation.

Farah Gogi insisted that Tarar should compensate her with Rs5 billion in damages for the harm caused.

The legal notice warned that if Ata Tarar fails to issue a formal apology and fails to pay the damages, legal action will be pursued against him in a criminal court.

Earlier, Farah Gogi served a legal notice on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director-general, the Punjab Inspector General of Police and the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) director-general regarding the alleged leakage of her property details.

The legal notice has raised concerns about the unauthorised release of documents related to the ongoing investigation into Farah Gogi”s properties and wealth.

In the notice, she has questioned how these confidential documents found their way to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s leader Atta Tarar.

Farah Gogi has vehemently denied all allegations, asserting that “all her properties have been duly declared in her tax returns.”

She has said that she belong to a business family and she has nothing to do with politics.

The notice further demanded an examination of Atta Tarar’s phone records to ascertain the source of the leaked documents.
