Fashion Island: Tourist’s murder sparks outcry in serene town


NEWPORT BEACH: The attempted robbery and subsequent death of 68-year-old tourist from New Zealand in the upscale Newport Beach’s Fashion Island mall caused huge outcry.

The murder occurred when the tourist and her husband were targeted while they were walking outside the Fashion Island in at attempted robbery.

According to the local police, the suspects attempted a robbery that quickly escalated into a physical fight. During the struggle, the tourist was dragged down the road before she was run over by the suspects’ car.

Following the robbery, the suspects fled the scene, leading to a high-speed pursuit by the local law enforcers.

Three suspects were later arrested, with one suspect arrested later after evading police on foot. The remaining two were captured after they abandoned the vehicle.

The suspects involved in the attempted robbery-murder were later identified with their ages and identities revealed to the public. The oldest of the suspects was identified as Leroyernest Joseph McCrary aged 26. The other two suspects were teenagers, aged 18: Jaden Cunningham and Malachi Eddward Darnell.

The three suspects were booked on charges including homicide, robbery with a firearm, and conspiracy.

Newport Beach Mayor was outraged during a press conference, condemning the suspects. He also called for societal improvements to prevent such incidents in future.
