KARACHI: In a deeply disturbing incident, a man has been accused of brutally axing his teenage daughter to death in what appears to be an “honour killing” in the Manghopir area of Karachi.
The victim, a 19-year-old young woman who was already married, went missing from her husband’s residence.
Concerned for his wife’s whereabouts, the husband contacted his father-in-law to report her disappearance.

Subsequently, the missing girl was located in the Quaidabad area and safely returned home.
Shockingly, the situation took a horrifying turn as the father allegedly took the life of his own daughter. The girl’s lifeless body was reportedly buried near their residence after the alleged act of violence.
Following a complaint filed by the deceased girl’s husband, the local police initiated an official case in response to this tragic incident. As the investigation unfolds, authorities have secured a court order to exhume the girl’s body for further examination.
It is noteworthy that steps have been taken in Pakistan to address the issue of “honor killings.” In October 2016, the joint session of the parliament took a significant stride by passing legislation that closed a legal loophole previously exploited by those who committed such crimes. The new legislation mandates life imprisonment for perpetrators, even if the victim’s relatives decide to pardon the offender.
