Khairpur: Five suspects who had been taken into custody in connection with the murder of 10-year-old housemaid Fatima at Ranipur Haveli of Pir Asad Ali Shah have been released on Sunday due to insufficient credible evidence against them.
The local police in Ranipur stated that the Station House Officer (SHO), head muharrar, two doctors including the Medical Superintendent (MS), a compounder, and a peon have been granted bail.
Authorities were unable to establish substantial evidence linking them to the murder, after keeping them in police custody for eight days.
According to the police they were released upon presenting exonerating evidence to the investigation team assembled by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG).
However, according to ARY News, sources suggest that the suspects were released following an alleged settlement of Rs five million. This purported deal was orchestrated through an intermediary associated with a high-ranking police officer connected to the Fatima murder case.
Meanwhile, Hina Shah, the wife of the primary suspect in the case, Pir Asad Shah, along with her father Fayyaz Shah, remain at large.
Fatima murder case: disturbing new findings
Javed Jiskani, Inspector General of the Sukkur division, revealed that the medical report has confirmed signs of physical and sexual assault on Fatima.
In a parallel development, the judiciary has verified the collection of DNA samples from residents of Ranipur Haveli. Once these samples are analyzed, the perpetrator responsible for Fatima’s rape will be identified.
On a different note, the prime suspect, Pir Asad Shah, has been under physical remand for the past 10 days. The police have indicated that all those who were released could be summoned for further questioning as needed.
The heinous incident came to light approximately 10 days ago after a video of the child went viral. The video depicted her lying on the floor after allegedly being sexually assaulted by Pir Asad Shah.
Tragically, the girl succumbed to torture, as evidenced by videos showing visible signs of abuse on her body. This shocking event sparked nationwide outrage and garnered attention in international media outlets.
