WEB DESK: Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Huzaifa Rehman expressed deep disappointment over Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s controversial remarks, saying the statement was deeply hurtful.

The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief made the remarks while addressing a rally in Punjab’s Kasur, where he spoke about the security and terrorism situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Fazlur Rehman said that while the sacrifices of soldiers are often highlighted, personnel are also receiving salaries for their duties.

Huzaifa Rehman said such remarks from a senior political leader required greater caution, adding that the Indian media was using Fazlur Rehman’s statement for propaganda against Pakistan.

He urged Maulana Fazlur Rehman to apologise for his controversial remarks, stressing that responsible discourse was essential, particularly on sensitive national issues.

Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also reacted to the statement, calling the remarks “unfair”. Asif said he expected a seasoned politician like Fazlur Rehman to be more careful in choosing his words.
