FBR chief faces salary cut over tax-related case

FBR chairman

ISLAMABAD: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has warned to withhold the salary of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana if he fails to submit comments in a tax-related case by February 14, 2024.

The PHC issued a third reminder to the FBR on Tuesday, warning that the chairman’s government pay would be attached unless he responds to the writ petition No 1318-M of 2023.

The court had previously asked for the FBR’s comments on November 15, December 26 and January 16, but received no reply.

According to the PHC’s standard operating procedures, the salary of any official who does not submit comments in a timely manner will be suspended and reported to the court.
